On embarkation day, you joined us for lunch at Arendelle. However since it was lunch, it wasn’t the full Arendelle experience, which is only during dinner. Now it’s our second night of the cruise, and dinner on our rotation is at Arendelle. So join us on the Disney Wish for dinner at Arendelle!

Unlike Worlds of Marvel, where the majority of the dinner show is on video screens around the dining room, Arendelle is a live show in the center of the dining room with musicians and characters from the movie Frozen. Indeed, the premise of Arendelle is you are here to celebrate the engagement of Anna and Kristoff.

This is Anna, by the way.

For some reason, I forgot to take a picture of the bread service. It is a six-grain Viking loaf with roasted onion dip. If I remember correctly, this was another night where the table preferred butter over the themed dip.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

For an appetizer, I ordered Elsa’s Royal Baked Scallops, which comes in a shrimp tarragon bisque. I saw “baked scallops” without reading the rest of the menu description and ordered it instinctively. When this was set down in front of me, I immediately had flashbacks from a dinner at Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club.

I know how this plays out! Let me guess: it’s going to be a puff pastry sitting on top of a bowl, with a seafood chowder underneath. Sure enough, I pulled off the pastry to find a bowl of shrimp and scallop bisque underneath. Defeated, being fooled a second time, I sheepishly ate my appetizer.

Let’s move on to the soup.

Disney Wish Arendelle dinner soup

For soup, because I love soup, I ordered Sven’s Favorite Carrot Soup. (Sven being Kristoff’s loyal Reindeer companion) The idea of a carrot soup was intriguing, so I had to try it. It was good! This looks like it could be pumpkin or maybe butternut squash, so tasting carrot was a different, yet pleasant change. Would order again because I don’t see carrot soup often.

Not as good as Mom’s.

Disney Wish Arendelle dinner meatballs

While the menu doesn’t say Swedish Meatballs, the description led me to believe it was, so I ordered the Arendelle Kjottkake. Braised meatballs, rosemary cream reduction, egg noodles, Lingonberry chutney. I mean, it’s almost basically Swedish Meatballs. Frozen is themed after Norway, after all, so it’s not that far of a stretch. Anyway, I’ll just say it: it wasn’t as good as mom’s.

Steak!

Knowing three meatballs wasn’t going to be enough, I also ordered steak, with a twice baked potato and veggies. This was, dare I say, more than enough for dinner. I wasn’t stuffed before, but now I certainly am!

Still room for dessert, though.

Disney Wish Arendelle dinner dessert

Of course I still had room for dessert. I will make room for dessert! Looking over the options, I decided to go with the one I couldn’t pronounce. Kvaefjordkake. Butter cake, almond meringue, vanilla cream, and berry compote. I don’t know how to pronounce it either. Just point and say “I want that! Please.”

It was simple, but it wasn’t a light dessert. The cake was a little dense between the crust and the filling. The meringue and the compote were light! The cookie was a cute decorative touch. The flavor and texture is similar to an Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, if that helps at all. It’s good but it’s a little heavy.

The show.

Arendelle is basically a dinner and a show. Some of the show happens during parts of dinner, some between courses. The show begins with Oaken, a merchant in Arendelle, acting as MC. During the course of dinner, the characters of Frozen come out for musical numbers as well as visiting tables around the dining room. Live musicians perform during the musical numbers. There’s singing, there’s dancing. Olaf is wheeled out on a cart to make an appearance.

It’s a whole production. The only part of the show I did not like was Oaken himself. At the beginning of the show, his antics were tolerable. By the end of the show, I wanted to strangle the guy because he was getting annoying. I loved everything else, though!

Of all the dining rooms on the Disney Wish, because of the live entertainment, Arendelle was by far my favorite. Also because, unlike Worlds of Marvel, I knew who these people were!

Where is Arendelle?

The only part of Arendelle that I did not like was it’s location. Arendelle is located on deck 5 aft of the Disney Wish. And by aft, I mean aft. It’s at the very back of the ship, so there’s a long hallway to walk from the elevator. When arriving for dinner, it’s not so bad because there’s usually a long line of people waiting to be seated, so it’s a lot of standing and taking a few steps at a time. After dinner, it’s a little bit of a trek from the dining room back to the elevator.

Well, I guess I better get used to it because this is where tomorrow’s dinner is as well! Join us for the next article where we’re back in Arendelle for dinner. Night three is Pirate Night! There won’t be a Frozen dinner show, there won’t be Swedish meatballs, and there definitely won’t be that annoying Oaken! There will be pirates, a pirate-themed menu, and later that night: fireworks!
