We’re big fans of Rapunzel here at Disney Rover. Her tenacity, her hair (omg her hair), and her chameleon sidekick Pascal. Huge fans; love it all! So when Rapunzel’s Royal Table came up on our dining rotation on the Disney Magic, we were excited!
Dinner and a show.
Like other dining rooms on Disney Cruise Line, Rapunzel’s Royal Table is a dinner with a show. Guests on the Disney Wonder experience Tiana’s Place. Guests on the Disney Wish experience Arendelle. On the Treasure, it’s Coco. Here on the Disney Magic, it’s Rapunzel!
The show is lively with a mix of live music, comedy, and audience participation. Along with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, it also includes two Snuggly Duckling thugs: Hook Hand and Atilla. Courses are served between show numbers, so you don’t have to miss a moment while trying to eat.

Rapunzel and Flynn visit the tables in the dining room and actually spend a little time with you! Our table had a great interaction with Flynn and yours truly got a birthday hug from Rapunzel. It was great!
So how’s the food? I know that’s what you really want to know about, so let’s get started!
Bread!

There was pretzel bread! Along with regular bread! The pretzel bread was the better of the two because it didn’t leave a crumby mess.

The dipping sauce is a creamy mustard. Not the best, not our favorite, but there’s always butter.
Is that a…?

Our chosen appetizer is apparently one of the more popular here: Corona Shrimp. A crispy fried shrimp sitting on a pea puree with a “potato wedge”. You and I both know that’s a french fry.
This was good! It’s a big shrimp, which seems like an oxymoron. We’re still confused about the french fry but we’ll go along with it. Overall: good. Not seal worthy, but good.
A lighter offering:

We stepped outside of our comfort zone to add some vegetables to our dinner. From the Vegetarian section of the menu, we chose the Spinach, zucchini, eggplant, and ricotta filled crepe.
This was nice! It was very savory and everything was cooked well (read: the eggplant wasn’t under-cooked). Would we get this again? As a second entree, yes.
Steak fans, rejoice!

For our main dish, we chose the Captain of the Guards Roasted Prime Rib of Beef. It comes with a twice baked potato and only a few vegetables.
The prime rib was great! Definitely a favorite here. The portion size was generous, so if you’re looking for a hearty meal this is one to get! The sides were just okay, which was a little disappointing. I don’t remember if they offered au jus or horseradish. Now that I think about it, I don’t think it was even mentioned. The prime rib was still good, regardless.
Choco-licious!

Our first dessert was the signature dessert option: Gothel Black Forest Tower. Chocolate cake tower with a cherry compote (inside) and chocolate creme. Like a mini Black Forest cake. It was nice but very rich. However, it wasn’t as rich as…

The Crème Brûlée Cheesecake! Why have to settle for one dessert when you can have a two-fer! Yes indeedy, this is a creme brûlée custard on top of a cheesecake. Here’s a cross-section to prove it.

Look at her! And they found a way to not only put creme brulee custard on top of a cheesecake, but also toast it enough to give it that crunchy shell on top! Now this is a rich dessert!
10/10 – Exceeds Expectations.
Coming into Rapunzel’s, we were not sure what to expect as far as food or the show. We’re happy to report that both exceeded our expectations. The show itself was very good with a mix of music and humor. The live musical performers were fantastic, and the characters were great. (although meeting the two thugs would have been great as well).
Dinner was very enjoyable and everyone at our large table seemed to enjoy everything they ordered. Tonight, there were more hits than misses. While our table was off to the side for dinner, we still had a decent view of the stage. We weren’t in the middle of all the action, but we were still able to see and enjoy everything.

Overall, we loved Rapunzel’s and consider it to be one of the dinner highlights on the Disney Magic. Is it better than Animator’s Palate and that amazing show? That’s a tough act to follow. We’re going to say no for now, but it’s definitely a solid second place.
Thank you very much for reading! We’ll see you next time.
