Fellow Rovers, we get it: not everyone has the means to stay at deluxe resorts at Disney World or be able to dine at some of the pricier restaurants. To make a vacation feasable, you may need to stay at a value resort and eat at the value resort food court. We also understand that some times reviews of these food courts can be outdated or difficult to find.

We recently stayed a night at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, and visited their food court for both lunch and dinner. Come along with us for the high notes and the low notes.

A healthy option!

For lunch, we opted for one of the healthy options: grilled salmon with rice and broccoli. We wanted to love this dish SO MUCH! While the salmon was nicely cooked and a deecnt portion size, it was on the dry side. The broccoli, while looking green and delicious, was actually kind of limp.

It may be in part because we are dining in the mid-afternoon for lunch, about an hour or so before they begin setting up for dinner. This may be the leftovers from the lunch rush that is still perfectly okay to serve but without the super fresh pizaaz.

We’re thinking some kind of sauce drizzled on top could have redeemed this dish in some ways. Some hollandaise and shorter pieces of broccoli and I’m sure this review would be completely different.

Birthday treat!

Someone here at Disney Rover was celebrating a birthday, and what better way to treat yourself than with a Brownie Sundae! A fun Mickey-shaped brownie with ice cream (chocolate or vanilla), whipped cream, and sprinkles.

The ice cream was great! The whipped cream was also great! We forget if it’s the cheap or the good whipped cream that starts to melt and disintegrate if it sits for several minutes. Whichever that is, this whipped cream was the other one! It was still looking nice while it patiently waited for us to finish lunch.

The problem here was with the brownie. Again, we wanted to love this so much! A fresh, gooey brownie would have knocked this out of the park! Sadly, our brownie was kind of tough and was probably sitting for a while. It could have been put to better use as a hockey puck over at All-Star Sports.

Maybe dinner will be better?

Dinner has potential! We opted for two of the pasta dishes. The first one was Penne Pasta with Chicken. For the pasta dishes, you have a choice of marinara or alfredo sauce and both come with a breadstick.

The pasta was cooked great, and the sauce was okay. Our only complaint was the chicken being dry, probably from being overcooked sitting under heat lamps. The breadstick was…okay. It’s no Olive Garden breadstick, but it’ll do.

Okay, last chance.

We saved the best for last! Or did we? The other option was Penne Pasta with Meatballs. In this case, we broke from tradition and under the suggestion of the cast member at the pasta station, chose alfredo sauce! We’re pretty sure our Italian readers are now offended.

However. Again, the pasta was cooked nicely. The alfredo sauce was actually very good as well. The star of the show was, in fact, the meatballs! They were fantastic! They were not dry, quite the contrary. They were cooked perfectly and delicious. In fact, if we could rewind time, we would have ordered two of these.

Also the not-Olive-Garden breadstick was just okay, but it was a nice compliment to the dinner. It was warm, buttery, and a little garlic-y.

So that’s that.

Well. Lunch and dinner at the All-Star Music Food Court was…it was something. It had potential. There was hope and expectations. Unfortunately, most everything we tried could have been good if we maybe came during their busy time when food was being turned over more frequently.

Granted, we did not try their grill station, and perhaps that was our fault because it did have a line. We also did not try their pizza, which can be ordered whole or by the slice. We chose the shortest lines and that could have been our downfall.

On the other hand, those meatballs were really good.
Maybe it was an off day.

Thank you very much for reading. We’ll see you next time.
