If you’ve been a reader of our site for a while, first of all: thank you! You probably have heard us mention more than once that the drink of the day on Disney Cruise Line is one of the best bargains on board. We have tried them on different cruise ships. Some good, some okay. One in particular is our favorite and is STILL our favorite.
We recently enjoyed a 3-night Halloween on the High Seas cruise aboard the Disney Magic, and while we only have a total of 6 drinks to tell you about, our favorite in particular has been consistently good after trying it on more than one ship.
What is the Drink of the Day?
Glad you asked! On Disney Cruise Line, the drink of the day is one specialty cocktail offered at a discounted price for that day only. The next day it changes to a different drink of the day. Along with an alcoholic drink of the day, there is also a non-alcoholic drink of the day as well.
Both beverages are listed daily in your Disney Cruise Line app. Simply navigate to the app while on board and scroll down until you see “Drink of the Day” and click on the image.
The price for the drink of the day has slowly gone up each year (doesn’t everything?) so as of currently, the price for the alcoholic drink of the day is about $7. That’s pretty good not just for a cruise, but on a Disney Cruise. The non-alcoholic drink price varied each day. One day our beverage was $6.00. Another day it was $5.50. This is only the drink price, mind you. An 18% auto gratuity is added on top of that. Because of course it is.
But enough about that. Let’s stop mathin’ and let’s start drinkin’! Apologies in advance: the camera was more interested in the background than the actual drink for some of these!
Day 1 – Bahama Mama (alcoholic)

What better way to start a cruise than with a fruity, tropical cocktail! This Bahama Mama consists of dark rum, créme de banana, Malibu coconut rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine. A very standard cruise cocktail, if you ask us. Nothing wrong with it at all, although it’s appearance does seem to vary depending on which ship you’re on. We’re not complaining: cheers!
Day 1 – Passion Cream Freeze (non-alcoholic)

The Passion Cream Freeze is made with Orange Passion juice, vanilla ice cream, and grenadine. While not the most visually appealing, it does taste like a citrus-y milkshake. It was…okay? Not our favorite and yes, drinking it too fast will give you a brain freeze. It’s a good first day treat while enjoying the view of the ship heading out to sea to start your vacation.
Day 2 – Sunken Treasure (alcoholic)

We’re fairly certain these cocktails are the staples for when the ship is at Castaway Cay. The Sunken Treasure is made with Malibu coconut rum, Midori melon liqueur, Blue Curaçao, pineapple juice, orange juice, and Sprite.
We’ve had this drink of the day numerous times. It’s not our favorite. It is on-theme for Castaway Cay and the upcoming Pirate Night later that evening. That being said: if you’re not a fan of melon, skip this one. The Midori melon comes in strong on this one. We’re not saying it’s disappointing, we’re saying we’re not fans because of the melon flavor.
One thing to note: Disney Cruise Line loves Midori and Blue Curaçao. On longer cruises, it’s quite possible you’ll find the drink of the day features one or both of these. They must be under contract or something. Maybe they bought too much. Maybe we should move on to the better drink…
Day 2 – Parrot Song (non-alcoholic)

OUR FAVORITE! When we saw Parrot Song listed as the drink of the day, we got a little excited. This drink was raved about in a previous article and here we are months later raving about it again!
Parrot Song is made with coconut cream, pineapple juice, and fresh banana. It’s then blended with ice until nice and frothy, and served with a cherry on top. To describe it simply: think of a non-alcoholic Pina Colada. It’s so good! Of the non-alcoholic drinks of the day that we’ve tried, this one is our favorite. Heck, we like it more than some of the alcoholic drinks of the day!
Just in case we haven’t already, we’re awarding Parrot Song our official Disney Rover Seal of Approval.
Day 3 – The Crimson Curse (alcoholic)

Crimson Curse (a drink we’ve never seen before) is made with Bacardi rum, cranberry, Sprite, and Empress Gin. We’re not sure where this drink came from, but it needs to go back there. Since it’s Halloween, we’re hoping this is a themed drink and we never have to see it ever again. We didn’t like it.
Day 3 – Jack’s Candy Corn (non-alcoholic)

Jack’s Candy Corn (not sure if they mean Pirates or Incredibles) is made with Passion orange guava (POG juice), pineapple, coconut water, grenadine, cream. It looks like candy corn, but there’s a lot going on here with competing flavors. Like the themed cup cakes at the Disney World resorts: it looks good, but doesn’t taste good.
Luckily, this seems to be a Halloween-themed drink, which we don’t have to try again unless we do another Halloween on the High Seas cruise. And considering this article is coming out in November, you don’t have to try it until next year’s Halloween on the High Seas cruises either.
You win some, you lose some.
Sadly, after a 3-night cruise, this is what we end on. While there were more misses than hits this time, we at least had our favorite drink of the day. Indeed, that’s the gamble with a themed cruise and themed drinks: some times they’re good, some times they’re not.
So far the good drinks of the day on this cruise have been the cruise staples. Find yourself on a regular Disney Cruise and more often than not, you’ll see the Sunken Treasure and the Bahama Mama appear as a drink of the day at some point. Same with Parrot Song: it will be a non-alcoholic drink of the day at some point during the cruise.
