On our five-night cruise on the Disney Fantasy, our first dinner was at Enchanted Garden. We’ve been to Enchanted Garden before on the Disney Dream, so this is pretty much a carbon copy on the Disney Fantasy.

Our firmly held belief is that the first dinner on your Disney Cruise can set the expectation bar for the rest of the cruise. If you have lousy food, will the rest of the dinners be just as lousy? If you have a slow dinner, will the rest of the dinners take this long? The first dinner really is the first impression.

But First: Bread

Enchanted Garden Disney fantasy bread

The best bread is free bread with dinner, everyone knows that. Brought to our table by our lovely assistant server was a selection of mostly warm rolls with a dipping sauce similar to hummus. They even brought out butter balls, we didn’t have to ask! (unlike on the Wish).

Loudah for the Chowdah!

Enchanted Garden Disney fantasy clam chowder

We started off with a basic Clam Chowder. It was fine, it was your normal cream-based clam chowder. We weren’t blown away by it, but we also didn’t dislike it. If they had told us it was made by Campbell’s, we wouldn’t be surprised.

Well, Well, Wellington!

Enchanted Garden Disney fantasy pork wellington

This is what we came for! Pork Tenderloin Wellington! Pork tenderloin, coated in mushrooms, then wrapped in a flaky pastry. Now bear in mind, we don’t like mushrooms.

With that in mind, this Wellington was fantastic! The pork tenderloin was juicy and delicious. The mushrooms were…earthy and mushroom-y, I guess. Much to our surprise, the pastry held up well, even after cut. It didn’t fall apart and wasn’t difficult to grab with the fork.

On the side were potatos and vegetables. Yeah, yeah, they’re both fine. The real star of the plate was the Wellington and our only regret was only ordering one. We could have easily had two!

Instead, We Also Tried…

Enchanted Garden Disney fantasy shrimp pasta

Penne Pasta with Shrimp. Just as described, this dish has penne pasta, shrimp (with tails! why?!), and marinara sauce. Honestly, we should have eaten this first. After the Pork Wellington, anything after that was sub-par.

Pudding, but not Jell-O

To all my non-British readers and friends: this is Warm Sticky Fig and Pecan Pudding. Served with vanilla ice cream and Butterscotch sauce. If you’re unfamiliar, this kind of pudding is cake-like. It was indeed warm and sticky. It was also, and I’m sorry to use this word: moist and delicious! Definitely a solid choice for dessert if you’re undecided.

But We Also Tried…

Enchanted Garden Disney fantasy creme brulee

Kahlua Crème Brûlée! Served with cinnamon shortbread cookies. For tonight’s dessert, the kitchen properly torched the top of the crème brûlée, so it was that crispy, crunchy top layer you’ve come to know. Underneath, the custard was slightly cold, slightly warm, and with a nice Kahlua flavor. We did not leave disappointed!

We Left Full and Happy!

For the first dinner of our Disney Cruise, we left full and happy. Obviously the pork tenderloin wellington was the clear winner tonight. Of everything we tried this evening, the shrimp penne was the most disappointing, but it did have a tough competitor. Our clam chowder was also just mediocre but only slightly better than the penne.

Clearly, if you have dinner at Enchanted Garden on the Disney Fantasy, check the menu to see if the Pork Tenderloin Wellington is offered that evening. On our five-night cruise, we had dinner twice at Enchanted Garden, and the menu was different the second time. We’re still debating if the Wellington is Seal of Approval worthy. It just might be.

Thank you very much for reading, and we’ll see you next time!
