Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods, located on deck 11 of the Disney Wish, is the best spot to grab something quick and simple for lunch or even a midafternoon snack. Offering a variety of stands, everyone can find something they will enjoy.

Since last year’s cruise, we’ve kept our eyes and ears open and noticed a lot of people rave about Donald’s Cantina. We’ve noticed in our cruise experience, a lot of people line up to grab lunch at Donald’s Cantina. Is this place as good as it appears, or do people really want tacos in the middle of the ocean?

We here at Disney Rover aren’t big fans of waiting in long lines, so we made a strategic move: we’d have lunch here on a day when crowds are at their lowest. Yes, folks, while 75% of passengers were enjoying the sandy beaches of Castaway Cay, we stayed on board to visit Donald’s Cantina with no line!

There’s a salsa bar!

Yes, 9 different types of salsas! From mild to spicy, thin to chunky, this salsa bar has it all! There’s even hot sauces close by. Can this get any better?!

These tacos are great!

Also similar to places like Chipotle and Moe’s, you simply let the cast member know what dish you would like (tacos, burritos, bowls) and then continue through the line adding whatever ingredients you would like. I opted for soft tacos, with chicken, and the basics of lettuce, tomato, and cheese. At the end of the line is one last cast member armed with sour cream, ready to give your lunch a healthy portion before cheerfully passing the plate to you.

I was skeptical at first, wondering just how great Chipotle at Sea Donald’s Cantina really is. But let me tell you, after the first two bites, I was hooked! (second bite to make sure the first bite wasn’t a fluke) These tacos were so good! Everything was so fresh and bursting with flavor! I believe in my notes I wrote “this place is legit!” All they need are nachos. Nachos would be great.

Second time’s the charm?

Maybe we got lucky the first time. So we returned on another day to give Donald’s Cantina a second try. This time we were only given 2 tacos instead of 3 (not sure why that is), and once again, everything was so fresh and delicious!

It’s safe to say that whatever positive, glowing reviews you’ve come across regarding Donald’s Cantina on the Disney Wish are 100% accurate. We don’t often give seals of approval at Disney Rover, but in this case, Donald’s Cantina definitely deserves our Disney Rover Seal of Approval.

But there’s a downside.

Bear in mind that Donald’s Cantina is, on most days, very busy! You will most likely have to wait in line. Depending on the time of day, that may be a very long line. How long you’re willing to wait is up to you, especially when there’s 3 other food options at Festival of Foods, which we’ll cover in future articles.

If you’re willing to wait, or you catch Donald’s Cantina when they first open, I’m sure you will love it just as much as we do! The cast members are friendly, the food is fresh, and there’s a salsa bar!

Join us next time where we explore several other options at Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods. Maybe you don’t like tacos. Perhaps barbecue is more your style? Burgers? Ice cream? It’s here, we’ve tried it, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it!
