I’m not typically a sit down breakfast person when I’m on vacation. I’m either still asleep or I’m having some powdered donuts and orange juice in the resort room that I picked up from 7-11 on the drive to Orlando. For some strange reason, I found myself awake for breakfast on my last Disney Cruise, so let’s head down to 1923 and see what’s available for breakfast!
This continues my personal mission of avoiding the craziness at Marceline Market for any meal on the Disney Wish. Indeed, I traded chaos and craziness for tranquility, peace, and quiet.
A healthy start!

I like to have some fresh fruit with breakfast to feel like I’m at least being somewhat responsible and healthy. When the assorted fruit plate arrived to my table, I was pleasantly greeted with a delightful arrangement of mango, melon, and papaya. Papaya? Don’t mind if I do! This sure beats the melon/cantaloupe/grapes fruit cup other places give you.
Not a fan of the hash.

Southern Hash is listed as a signature breakfast, and unfortunately I was not a fan. In theory, it sounds great! Two eggs cooked your way, chorizo, potatoes, onions, cilantro, with pepper jack cheese. Sadly, it simply didn’t ‘wow’ me like I was hoping it would. In hindsight, I probably would have been happier with French toast or a waffle instead. I wanted to like this, but I didn’t. Maybe I should have asked for some hot sauce. That might have helped.
This on the other hand…

I don’t order Eggs Benedict very often. At 1923 for breakfast, they offer three varieties of Eggs Benedict, but I chose the classic version because it’s the most familiar. Poached egg, Canadian bacon, and Hollandaise sauce over a toasted English muffin. And a side of regular bacon, because bacon!
Dear reader: when I tell you these were the most perfect Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The English muffin was toasted just enough to be toasty but not over cooked. The Canadian bacon was warm, the Hollandaise sauce was rich. But those poached eggs! They were perfect! The entire dish was perfect and so delicious. Even writing about it now, I’m reminded of how good it was.
Was there bread?
You would think some kind of breakfast pastry would be offered for breakfast, but in this instance I simply do not remember. Revisiting the breakfast menu, I don’t see breakfast pastries listed anywhere, so I’m going to guess that it wasn’t offered. Surely I would have taken a picture of it if there was, right? I mean, I’ve been so good with dinner breads thus far. Pastries were offered on our last day, but that’s for another article coming soon.
1923 Theme reminder.
As discussed in a previous lunch article at 1923, the theme for this dining room is the very early days of the Walt Disney Studio. The decor spread out between the Walt and Roy dining rooms consists of display cases featuring concept art for many of Disney’s major motion pictures. During lunch we were seated behind Bambi concept art. For breakfast, we were seated near some of the concept art for Cinderella!

Indeed, this restaurant is a treasure trove for the fan of Disney movies! There is so much to look at, and I haven’t even explored the other dining room yet!
A break from the buffet.
While not offering an extensive breakfast menu at 1923, what the sit-down option lacks in variety, it more than makes up for in regard to peace and quiet away from the buffet on the Disney Wish. Yes, there should be at least a few things for everyone at breakfast, but what I really appreciated was being able to sit down and enjoy breakfast without feeling crowded or rushed. All I needed was a newspaper to read and I would have been in tranquility heaven!
If you’re looking to get away from the noise, the crowds, and the frantic fervor of trying to find a place to sit down to eat on your Disney cruise, seek out whichever dining room is open for breakfast and enjoy a more relaxing start to your day. You’re on vacation: take it easy!
