Last year when we first cruised on the Disney Wish, Worlds of Marvel was a surprise hit, despite knowing very little about Marvel. The show was entertaining and the food was enjoyable. If you’re curious about last year’s dinner review, here’s that article.

This year, we returned to Worlds of Marvel with the intention of trying some of the other dishes to see if we picked the hits last year, or if we missed out on some hits last year. Oh, and we took pictures of the bread this time!

So let’s dive in and see how dinner this year compares to last year at Worlds of Marvel!

First, the bread.

Worlds of Marvel bread

Worlds of Marvel bread service is a marble loaf served with red bell pepper dipping sauce. Or, if you prefer, butter can be requested. Looks aside, I didn’t notice anything different or unusual about this bread. So if you like a typical roll with dinner, you’ll be pleased with the bread service here.

Bun-derful.

Worlds of Marvel Bao Bun

The appetizer menu at Worlds of Marvel, at least to me, had the least amount of items I was willing to try. One dish contains mushrooms, so that was out. Another involves hearts of palm, which sounds unusual, so I wasn’t willing to give that a try. I settled on the Steamed Bao Bun: seared ginger-orange pork belly, sesame seeds, pickled daikon (don’t ask me what that is), spring onions, with a soy honey glaze.

It was a small appetizer, but it was a tasty appetizer. Last year we tried the other appetizer, the lemon marinated shrimp. I think both are a good choice for an appetizer at dinner here. The Bao was nice and soft, the pork belly had a good flavor, and the daikon added a crunch. I’d call this one a hit.

Soup!

Worlds of Marvel Broccolini soup

If you’re a fan of soup, like me, Worlds of Marvel have two options. The first is a potato soup, which I tried last year. The second is a white cheddar and broccolini soup with corn bread sippets. I don’t know what a sippet is. Sounds like a fancy term for crouton. (Editor’s note: that’s kind of what it is)

To be honest, this soup wasn’t my favorite. The flavor wasn’t really there, the texture was a little off. It just wasn’t doing anything for me.

Luckily, my server accidentally brought me the other soup first!

Worlds of Marvel Potato soup

Here’s the real hit of the soup menu at Worlds of Marvel! “Kartoffelsuppe”: creamy potato soup with carrots, celery, and knockwurst. Order this, not the broccolini soup. It’s just better.

As good as we remember!

Worlds of Marvel Golden Mystic Pasta

As much as I wanted to try some different entrees for dinner, as soon as I saw this listed on the menu, I knew instantly what I would order. Golden Mystic Pasta: caramelized scallops, angel hair pasta, chardonnay lemon saffron cream, roasted vine tomatoes, with Malabar spinach.

This is what I had last year and it was so good! I tried it again this year and it was just as good! Everything about this dish is great. Scallops are great, the pasta is great, the sauce is great. It’s just great!

I raved about this to everyone!

Worlds of Marvel Gnocchi

The other dish that I knew would be a knock-out is on the vegetarian menu at Worlds of Marvel. Ricotta Gnocchi: fontina cheese, grape tomato confit, broccoli rabe, and pesto. The gnocchi is pillowy soft and complimented by the veggies and cheese. Believe me, I told everyone about this dish! Are you going to Worlds of Marvel? Get the gnocchi, you won’t regret it. Later that evening I met up with friends. One of them tried the gnocchi and agreed how good it was. Solid choice if you want a second main dish for dinner.

Tourist tart.

Worlds of Marvel Key Lime Pie

I avoided the Key Lime Pie last year because I knew I’d be disappointed. This year I decided to try it, knowing I would most likely be disappointed. Sadly, like Key Lime Pie in the Disney parks, I was disappointed. It’s not that this dessert was bad, it just wasn’t tart enough for my preference of Key Lime Pie. I get it though: it’s better to err on the sweeter side than the tart side, to please as many people as possible. If you’ve never tried Key Lime Pie, then by all means try this. Just remember that good Key Lime Pie is more tart.

Or get this!

Worlds of Marvel Cheesecake Byte

The signature dessert at Worlds of Marvel is the Cheesecake Byte. Cheesecake, fresh berries, strawberry jelly, and whipped cream. Delicious, delicious, delicious! Assuming you like cheesecake, that is. My personal favorite dessert of the 4 desserts I’ve tried between this year and last year. I think for this dinner I tried the best and one of the, I don’t want to say worst. One of the not-as-best desserts.

Cheesecake Byte – my personal favorite and top pick.
Nano Dobos Torta – chocolatey and rich
Sticky Date Pudding and Key Lime Pie are tied for 3rd.

Let’s wrap this up, already.

Worlds of Marvel decor

This year, trying a mix of old favorites and new-to-me dishes, was a mixture of great and disappointing. The Steamed Bao Bun was a good appetizer choice along with last year’s pick of the lemon marinated shrimp. I think we’ve exhausted the soup discussion already, with the creamy potato soup being the better choice of the two available.

For main dishes, I simply couldn’t pull myself away to try something new, so I stayed with two very good choices with the Golden Mystic Pasta and the Ricotta Gnocchi. As far as desserts, the cheesecake was a clear winner, and the key lime pie is good if you’ve never had it, but don’t want the full key lime experience. It is good, just not very tart.

Join us next time as we continue dining on the Disney Wish. We’ve been to Worlds of Marvel. Arendelle, Pirate Night, and 1923 are on the horizon in the future, along with breakfasts and lunches at 1923! We even had our socks knocked off at Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods!

Stay tuned for those articles in the coming weeks!
