Disney and McDonald’s have a long partnership history, especially when it comes to Happy Meal Toys. Recently, they once again collaborated and released a series of miniature figures to celebrate Disney’s 100 year anniversary. Along with a large assortment of toys across several of Disney’s franchises, a mobile game was released to be played with the miniature figures.
But is the game any good? Are the collectible figures any good? And is there anyone else that loves the hot mustard dipping sauce for their McNuggets? We answer all these burning questions and more!
First, let’s look at the packaging.
So far, so good. It’s cute! Love the art style. But wait, there’s another box inside!
That…is a lot of characters! 62, if I counted correctly. Remember when Disney/McDonald’s did that 101 Dalmatians promotion and had 101 Dalmatian toys to collect? It’s giving me flashbacks of that. Fortunately, each box contains 2 collectible characters. Unfortunately, they’re in black mystery bags so you won’t know unless you open them or you’re really good at feeling them.
They’re cute, though!
Elsa is very cute! Groot is cute in that style, but I’m not a big Marvel or Guardians of the Galaxy fan. The characters are not very tall, maybe 3 inches.
There’s a mobile game.

The website is located on the side of the Happy Meal box, or there’s a QR code to scan. After clicking the yellow button and reading through a disclaimer page that follows, you come to the main start screen.

The instructions are quite simple, as described below.

Now which world would you like to choose? You can pick the world that corresponds to the figure you’re using or you can be a rebel and pick a different world. Quick spoiler: it’s all the same game but with different themes.

The gameplay is incredibly easy.
The objective is quite simple. Just below your figure is a banner-like area. As the objects (it varies based on what world you choose) come into the banner area, tap them to make them explode and score points. When they explode, the area around the base of your figure lights up in a circular pattern.
As you can probably tell, I didn’t even need the figure in order to play the game. These screen shots would have been very difficult to capture if I had to balance a toy on my phone in order to do so.
Is it worth it?
This might be an unpopular opinion: not really. I’m really torn on this one because do we really need to give kids another reason to be on their phone? Isn’t the point of toys to get kids to not be on their phone? I could see this being fun the first time, but it doesn’t have replay ability. There’s no high score leaderboard. Once you’ve played it, you’ve basically played all 4 worlds.
For adults, the game is boring and repetitive. The figures are cute, but are they cute enough to collect all 62? In this economy? Maybe if by luck you received one of your favorite characters, but I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to collect all the figures.
Going, going, gone
As of this writing, the Disney 100 happy meal toys are no longer available and McDonald’s has moved on to a new toy series featuring video game character Crash Bandicoot. Disney 100 happy meal toys are available on Ebay if you’re looking for a character you’re wanting, or missing.
But to be honest: you didn’t miss much.
