Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are essentially sister resorts in one area. Both resorts share the same incredible pool area, Stormalong Bay. Both resorts share boat transportation. One could argue they both share at least one restaurant, Beaches and Cream, but that is technically on the Beach Club side.

While they are sister resorts, each resort has a unique look at feel to them. Yacht Club feels more stately and formal, whereas Beach Club feels more casual and relaxed.

For this article, I’m going to show you one of the standard rooms at the Yacht Club, to see if this resort may be a good choice for your next vacation.

Room layout is typical deluxe resort.

Yacht Club Resort Room layout

Upon entering the room, you’ll notice Yacht Club follows a pretty standard room layout common to the deluxe resorts. The only difference would be if your room has a king bed versus two queen beds.

It’s not a fridge, it’s a beverage cooler.

I’ve noticed Disney has been using beverage coolers instead of a mini fridge in their resorts lately. It’s great that you have a place to store and cool down drinks, but the shelves are not very deep! I had to lay all my drink bottles down in order for them to fit inside. There’s also not a lot of room to store any dinner leftovers.

Standard closet

The closet has a good amount of storage and shelves, along with an iron and ironing board. The in-room safe is also located in this unit, along with an extra pillow and blanket.

Double sinks? Fancy!

Here is an overall view of the bathroom and vanity area. Double sinks, for that getting ready rush. Hand towels are hanging up to the left of this picture. The counter is pretty much spoken for with the two sinks and the bath products in the center, so there’s a shelf just above for toiletries, as well as shelves under the sinks.

It’s a nice shower!

Yacht Club Resort Room shower

This may sound silly, but I can gauge how much I’m going to enjoy a vacation based on the height of the shower head in the shower. Not only does this shower have a tall main shower head, it also has a hand-held shower head. The drain is a cut-out at the front. I’m not sure how that works, but it’s great!

My only complaint about the shower was the lack of toiletry space inside the shower. Leave the giant bottle of conditioner at home! For now, Disney is still providing their H2O brand of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. This will be replaced in the future with a different brand.

A nice dresser.

For those longer stays, or if you have a 3rd and 4th person in your room, there is a dresser with more storage and counter space. Several electrical outlets and USB outlets are included for charging phones, MagicBand+, etc.

A couch, or bed. Your choice!

While I didn’t try to convert it to a bed, I’m assuming based on the strap that the top pulls down to convert to a bed.

A fun room detail!

We interrupt this resort room tour to point out a fun detail in the collection of photos above the couch. I couldn’t help but notice the number on the boat is 71, a reference to when Walt Disney World first opened in 1971.

Comfy beds!

Yacht Club Resort Room beds

Beds: comfy. Pillows: fluffy. Blanket: cozy. Headboard: cushy. There’s also space under the bed to store luggage, if need be. The monster under the bed said it was okay.

My only gripe thus far!

This, well these, are my only gripe about this room. The nightstand between the beds is too small, in my opinion. I feel like it should be wider and actually span the distance between both beds. I ended up pulling it over closer to the bed I was sleeping on so I could reach what I was setting on it.

And can we talk about this little bitty shelf in the corner? I appreciate the outlets so you can charge your phone, but it doesn’t give you a lot of space for anything else. Also you have to reeeeach for that shelf. I like the idea, it just needs to be bigger to be more useful and practical.

Your view may be different.

I was booked on a first floor (requested) with a water view, so your view may be different if you are booked in a standard view. I believe all rooms have a patio/balcony, so you should have a table and two chairs outside.

More fun details!

We interrupt this resort room tour, again, to point out some fun details in the curtains for the sliding glass door. In keeping with the boating theme, the curtains for the room contain constellations with some all-too-familiar characters. Take a few minutes after settling in to enjoy this detail!

One more before I go.

Yacht Club Resort Room tables

Next to the beds is a desk with a chair. One of my favorite features in the rooms at Yacht Club is the nested table that fits under the desk. You can use this over by the couch for eating in your room, or set it up between the beds to eat on the bed while watching TV.

This is my second time staying at Disney’s Yacht Club and the resort is finally starting to grow on me. My first impression, just a couple years ago, had me feeling like this resort, and it’s rooms, were too stuffy and formal for my liking. Now that I’ve spent more time at the resort, I can appreciate the stateliness of the decor and all of the rich wood tones in the furniture.

Yacht Club Resort lobby

The ambience continues in the lobby, with models of yachts under glass, a giant globe, and various nautical touches all throughout. The theme is just enough nautical touches around to feel sophisticated without being cheesy or campy. The rich wood tones compliment the formal attire of the staff to make you feel you’re staying somewhere classy, without feeling like you’re underdressed or don’t belong.

Hopefully you now have a better understanding of the room appearance and layout at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. In a future article, I’ll show you one of the rooms at Disney’s Beach Club Resort so you can compare the two.

Yacht Club is pet-friendly!

One important last detail I’d like to mention is Disney’s Yacht Club is one of the few resorts on property that is pet-friendly, and does allow pets to stay in the room. A pet relief area is located near the quiet pool. Guests choosing to bring their pet to the resort should contact the resort directly for additional details and guidelines.
