Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is one of the best resorts on property to be literally surrounded by Disney. The resort itself is divided into four areas, all themed after one of four iconic movies: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, and Cars.

Today, let’s take a quick look around The Lion King area, and see what characters from the movie we can find!

Hakuna Matata!

Art of Animation - The Lion King - Timon, Pumba, and Simba on a log

Of course we should start with a few main characters of the movie. Timon, Pumba, and Simba are situated atop a fallen tree that you walk under to enter the Lion King building.

Hey dad!

Of course Mufasa will be here, watching over the land.

Oh this guy…

Art of Animation - The Lion King - Scar, laying on an opposing rock

Every hero needs a villain, I guess. Here’s Scar laying on an opposing rock.

This gives me the creeps

Art of Animation - The Lion King - Elephant graveyard with hyenas

Oh, goodness. We found the iconic Elephant Graveyard, along with Scar’s hyena henchmen: Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. Let’s not linger too long here.

The Wise One

Here’s the wise shaman himself, Rafiki!

Bird is the word

Art of Animation - The Lion King - Zazu perched on a rock

And we cannot forget the astute majordomo himself, Zazu.

The Lion King area of Art of Animation consists of two buildings of rooms, consisting of family suites themed to The Lion King movie. Family suites sleep up to 6 and feature a queen size bed, pull-out sofa, and a pull-down Murphy bed. Each family suite also includes two bathrooms and a table with four chairs. A kitchenette is included in each family suite and comes with a microwave, refrigerator, sink, and coffee maker.

While the Lion King buildings aren’t the closest buildings to the main lobby building, they’re not too far of a walk, either. It’s one of the closer buildings to the Art of Animation bus stop, but a little further from the Skyliner.

As for immersive outdoor theming, I find The Lion King outdoor area to be the least themed. The area is simply adorned with foliage and various rock formations, with the characters scattered around them. The two best features in the area are the fallen tree you walk under and the Elephant Graveyard.

All-in-all, while this isn’t my favorite area of Art of Animation, it is a fun area if you or someone in your group is a fan of The Lion King.
