Recently, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge underwent a major refurbishment, giving the rooms much needed attention that was, partly because of covid, long overdue. Unfortunately for me, that means the room pictures I have are now outdated. So for prosperity reasons, we’re going to take a look at what a Deluxe Studio at Boulder Ridge used to look like before the refurbishment.
It was showing some wear.

That drawer stayed open during my stay. Every time I’d try to close it, it would slowly reopen to this position. After several attempts to keep it closed, I simply gave up. The small table and two chairs were showing wear as well.
Hidden wear and tear.

Here is the pullout sofa and coffee table. While in relatively decent condition, I found some hidden wear and tear when I needed to move the coffee table. As I moved the coffee table, I started finding numerous ball bearings in the carpet. Not great if you have little kids who could have found these!
But the kitchenette was okay!

My favorite area of the deluxe studio is the kitchenette. I feel it turns a regular resort room into a more functional space. Now you’re not totally dependent on the resort restaurants, you can quickly heat up something in the microwave or grab something out of the mini fridge. There’s even a toaster! For you coffee drinkers, that’s a 12-cup coffee maker. Housekeeping provides coffee, sugar, and creamer but with the mini fridge, you could bring your own favorite creamer instead!
No complaints about the bathroom!

The bathroom was pretty standard, and I didn’t notice too much wear in this area. Only one sink, though, but a fair amount of counter space and some drawer storage.
Kind of outdated, but okay.

While the bathroom tile (and matching kitchenette tile) and shower curtain were a little outdated, overall the shower was okay. Shower temperature and pressure were good and at the time, Disney wasn’t mounting the shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel to the wall at the DVC properties. That’s starting to change at some resorts.
Yep. Pretty darn standard.

As you’d expect, the closet was pretty darn standard and came with everything you’d expect at a resort closet. I think this is pretty self explanatory.
Unsure if Disney kept this.

In the deluxe studios, each room also came with a pull down murphy bed, suitable for a child to sleep on. Upon pulling the bed open (below the TV in the first picture), this Bambi artwork was visible, and it’s adorable. I don’t know if Disney kept these pull down beds while doing the refurbishment.

Here’s the other side of the Murphy bed art. It’s really adorable in person!
The view hasn’t changed!

At least the view from the patio/balcony hasn’t changed! I had a room closer to the main building and bus stop, with an exit door very close by. Unfortunately for some, outside of the exit door is a step, which means anyone with mobility issues would be unable to use it and would have to enter/exit from the main entrance down the hallway at the lobby.
So that concludes a look back at what a Deluxe Studio at Boulder Ridge Villas used to look like. I can’t wait to return and take a few recent photographs and see all the changes they have made. Hopefully they fixed the drawer.
