Imagine you’re on vacation and having a wonderful time at Epcot. You duck in to one of the many pavilions and find a bottle of adult spirits you’d love to purchase. Maybe it’s a bottle of wine in France you want to try with dinner tomorrow. Perhaps it’s a bottle of liqueur in Germany you sampled and want to bring home from vacation. How does Disney handle this? Well, they have a couple rules you are required to follow.

The obvious rule

The obvious rule is that you must be 21 or older. It’s the law in the US.

The packaging rule

The next rule you must abide by is that you will not open the packaging until you have exited the park. The cast members are very clear and stern about this.

The consumption rule

If by chance the item is too large to fit into a package, the cast members also make it very clear that you are not allowed to consume this purchase until you have exited the park. Open container laws.

In the mean time, you could try some liqueur flavored chocolates, which are okay to consume inside the park.

And that’s pretty much it! It’s a very simple transaction, but the cast members make it abundantly clear that it is against the law to open the packaging and/or consume your purchase until after you have exited the park. Be aware that Disney does employ undercover security, so even though you have left the store and you think you’re surrounded by guests, you could still catch the attention of an undercover employee monitoring guest behavior.Stash it away in your park bag until you’re back at your resort.

Or do what I do: after leaving Epcot with box and seal intact, look it up online and find out you could have bought it cheaper from a store at home.

Just my luck.
