There are a lot of interesting and unique details around Disney World. You have probably seen some of these. Maybe you’ve seen them and didn’t know what they were? Perhaps you’ve noticed these and thought it was part of the scenery? Follow along as we take a look at some unique finds. Mind you, this isn’t a complete list (that would be a very long article) but here are some to spark your curiosity and to maybe have you look around a little longer on your next vacation.
Do I pull this or not?

If you’ve been to Hollywood Studios, you may have passed by this over near the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Nearby is a sign reading “Don’t pull me!” with the word ‘Don’t’ crossed out. You may have thought it was part of the theme of the area. But is there more to it? You betcha! Give the rope a pull next time. I won’t spoil it for you, but Disney wants you to pull that rope.
Get your kicks on route 498?

Wait a second, there’s no route 498 in the U.S. Indeed, there isn’t! There also isn’t a Diggs County, but I digress. While passing through Dinoland USA inside Animal Kingdom, you may have passed this road sign and thought nothing of it. Besides, Dinoland is meant to pay homage to the roadside attractions along Route 66, so this wouldn’t seem odd or unusual. But the number is. 498 is a reference to the date Animal Kingdom opened! 4 (April) 1998. You can impress your friends and family next vacation with that one!
This is a what?

This particular example was photographed outside of Epcot, but if you take a look around, you may notice these keep appearing in places. Or, perhaps you won’t notice. Disney did paint these their patented “go away green”, a shade of green that your eye doesn’t instinctively notice and may simply gloss over. So what is this thing? It’s a speaker!
Have you noticed while walking around some of the Disney resorts, or inside the parks (especially Epcot) and noticed there’s background music playing but you’re not sure where it’s coming from? It’s coming from these little things to help enhance your vacation experience! (and if you have the Shazam app, you can hold your phone near the speaker to find out what song is playing!)
Where resorts collide

This one is more of a fun detail than anything. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts sit next to each other and in a lot of ways, are almost considered one large resort instead of two separate resorts with two separate themes and decorations. The two resorts do share a main pool, Stormalong Bay, which may be more popular than the two waterparks on property. Behind Stormalong Bay, near Beaches and Cream restaurant is where the two resorts meet. The grey paneling for Yacht Club and the blue paneling for Beach Club.
Green energy?

Do you need a break at Magic Kingdom? Wouldn’t you love to find a place to recharge your battery? (literally and metaphorically) In Fantasyland, near Peter Pan and It’s A Small World is a little side area lovingly and unofficially called “the Tangled restroom area”. Along with restrooms are a number of benches with tree stumps sticking out of the ground. If you take a look inside, you’ll see this panel. Open the door and you’ll find a few electrical outlets you can use to charge your ECV, cell phone, portable fan, etc. Grab a drink and a snack from Sleepy Hollow and then head over here to recharge your personal battery while you recharge your electrical battery.
One fish, two fish

You’ve been inside The Seas with Nemo and Friends inside Epcot, either by curiosity or to enjoy the air conditioning. You’ve most likely wandered around the aquarium displays, but did you know there’s a second floor of exhibits? Accessible by escalator or elevator, on the second floor of the aquarium are more viewing windows into the giant aquarium, and a few smaller exhibits including a display of sea anemones. They may even be wearing mickey hats. Along the sides of these smaller tanks are support stands, and if you look at the feet of the stands, you’ll notice they are in the shape of a fish!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour around Disney World looking at just a few unique details you find (and in some cases overlook) while on vacation. I’m sure as I find more and more of these, there will eventually be more articles similar to this one in the future. Thanks for reading!
