I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds tranquility on a cruise by standing out on the room verandah and watching the ship sailing through the open waters. Watching the waves. Hearing the waves. It’s hypnotizing.
When I first sailed on the Disney Dream in 2022, I found myself frequently watching the ship sailing through the ocean, especially at night. The lights from the ship near the water line combined with the waves the ship was creating was incredibly peaceful and tranquil.
The following year I sailed on the Disney Wish, and once again I found myself out on the verandah watching the ship sail through the ocean. However this time I noticed a difference: the waves weren’t as noticeable, and it appeared to be happening a little further back on the ship.
Doubting my thoughts, when I returned home I checked my pictures from last year’s cruise to see if my thoughts were correct or if I was remembering it incorrectly (Mandela Effect, if you will).

Both pictures were taken around the same forward area of both ships, and for a fair comparison, the perspective is looking towards the rear (aft). Mind you they are on opposite sides, but I don’t think that really matters.
It looks, to me at least, that the Disney Wish is making less turbulence through the water compared to the Disney Dream. Maybe that’s due to the design of the hull? Maybe because the Disney Wish is powered by natural gas? Who knows. I thought it was interesting so I wanted to share and think out loud about it.
For reference, here’s a shot looking forward on the Disney Wish.

I’ll never get tired of this view, regardless of which cruise ship I’m on or the waves it creates. Have you been on a cruise? I highly suggest giving it a try.
