Seasoned Disney Cruisers know: Animator’s Palate = Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes. But what if I told you there is something else on the menu that is equally memorable and delicious? An entree so good, we might award it the Seal of Approval.

But first, a quick dining room mention:

We’ve dined at Animator’s Palate on the Disney Dream and Fantasy prior to our sailing on the Disney Magic. It’s important to note that the show on the Magic is completely different than the Dream and Fantasy. Animator’s Palate on the Disney Magic (and we assume Wonder) focuses on Disney animation and color, whereas the Dream and Fantasy feature a show including Crush from Finding Nemo.

While we don’t mind the show on the Dream and Fantasy, we absolutely loved the show at Animator’s Palate on the Disney Magic! The show focuses more on Disney animation and color, which culminates in a visit from Sorceror Mickey. We don’t want to spoil too much, but in our opinion, the show at Animator’s on the Magic is far superior.

But you’re not here for that, you’re here for the food! So let’s get to it.

Bread!

Yes there was bread. No, we did not take a picture of it. Next!

Fancy pizza?

Close! This creation is the Tomato Tarte, with glazed goat cheese and shaved radish. To be fair, though, it was very fancy pizza-ish. We didn’t hate it. It was unique and different. The tomato slices took the place of tomato sauce, and then you had the shredded cheese with radish for crunch. If you’re looking for another appetizer to try along with your Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes, consider this one. But it was like a fancy pizza.

Not as good!

We ordered this out of obligation. It was the other appetizer we haven’t tried yet. This is Serrano Ham with Manchego Cheese and Olive Tapanade. It’s a mini charcuterie. It’s a fancy adult Lunchable. It’s really not that great.

The most amazing steak!

Y’all. This is it. Grilled Tuna Steak with fingerling confit, caponata, sun-dried tomato pesto and aioli. We don’t know what most of that means other than some kind of potato concoction. We’re not here for the sides, though.

This tuna steak was amazing! We’ve never had tuna in steak form before and we are fans! It indeed does look like a rare steak. It was seasoned beautifully. The tuna was tender. This might be one of the best dishes at Animator’s Palate! In fact, we’re awarding it the Disney Rover Seal of Approval.

A close second.

Sadly, because the dinner show was going on, we were unable to take decent photographs of another great main course: Herb-Crusted Pork Chop. Served with sun-dried tomato risotto, this tender and juicy pork chop was also fantastic. Really, you cannot go wrong with either of these two main courses.

Pie!

We love pie. We also love a pie that oddly resembles Key Lime Pie on other ships, but this is no key lime pie. Because it’s a Lemon Icebox Pie! To be fair, it’s kind of like a key lime pie but with lemon instead. Not too tart, not too sweet. A perfect middle to end the night on.

That’s a wrap!

Overall, our dinner at Animator’s Palate was pretty good. The tomato tarte was different and was unique enough to make up for the serrano ham appetizer that we didn’t care for.

The two main courses of the tuna steak and the pork chop were phenomenal! We talked about the tuna steak to anyone who was going to Animator’s the next night. Both main courses were big hits and it’s a shame we didn’t discover them sooner.

The Lemon Icebox Pie was okay. We’ve had better desserts here, with the Crunchy Walnut Cake and the Warm Sticky Date Pudding. We gave this a try for something different and while we weren’t disappointed, we’d choose the other two desserts mentioned. For ranking, the Lemon Icebox Pie would be #3 (out of the 6 desserts offered).

Join us next time where we will continue our dining room reviews on board the Disney Magic. We still have Rapunzel’s Royal Table, a dinner and show we are very much looking forward to.

Thanks for reading, we’ll see you next time!
